Follow In My Footsteps

How can we come to terms with the past?

Heidelberg, 1967: on her 21st birthday, Anne finds out that her biological father is a British soldier. After the war her mother Erika met young George in Berkum, near Bonn, and fell in love with him. Anne is stunned by this revelation, but it certainly does explain a few things. She decides to go and look for George in London. When she gets to England, however, she is met with hostility by George’s wife. But she finds support in her half-brother and his best friend John. The past has left its mark on all of them – including Anne, who sometimes wonders if she will ever be enough and whether she is worthy of being loved for her own sake.
