The capital city of Sartin is in turmoil. Dangerous creatures are attacking people, and the city is riven by political tensions and murders. Since her mother’s death, Mae has been acting strangely and has become very isolated. One evening, Shina is horrified to see Mae drinking the blood of another human being. Convinced that Mae is filled with chaotic energy, Shina confides in her parents. But they take the view that Mae is beyond help, and must be executed. There’s only one way out: Shina and Mae have to flee...
