The squirrel has never seen such a strange sight! “Are you a stone?” he asks the tortoise, as he dances around on her back. No answer! “Are you a giant nut – or perhaps a hemisphere?” he pesters her. The tortoise withdraws into her shell, disgruntled. But soon afterwards, when the lively squirrel gets into danger, even the grumpy tortoise can’t refuse to help. She uses her shell to protect the annoying little fluffball. And now, at last, the penny drops. “I know who you are!” cries the squirrel. “My friend!” And even the grouchy tortoise can’t help but be pleased.
