The Endling

A book like a best friend

Auguste is a snail researcher who has completely withdrawn from life. Her apartment has begun to look more and more like a cabinet of curiosities. Her sole companion is a snail, but no ordinary one: it’s an endling, that is, the last individual of its species. When Auguste's pen pal, her last remaining human contact with the outside world, suddenly stops writing, Auguste is so concerned that she can hardly catch a moment’s sleep. It’s only when her teenage niece Zoe arrives on the scene that she snaps out of her lethargy. Together with Zoe's younger sister Hanna, the dissimilar duo forge a plan and set out to find the missing pen pal. But, naturally, not without Auguste's most precious possession - her snail.

Two wonderful protagonists embark on a journey which is full of surprises and takes them to Italy and Norway

Funny and touching, witty and thought-provoking. Simply beautiful
